Privacy policy
Last updated 23 October 2026
This policy covers the Scopicle website and app at scopicle.com, the Scopicle mobile app, and the Scopicle new tab browser extension. Scopicle has no ads and we never sell your data.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password itself.
- What you create: notes, pages, projects, whiteboards, brainstorms, trips, meal plans, settings and any photos or files you upload. These are stored so you can use them across your devices.
- File transfers: files you send, the recipients' email addresses and your message. Transfers are deleted automatically when they expire.
- Billing: if you subscribe to Scopicle Pro, payment is handled by Stripe. We keep your Stripe customer ID and plan status, and never see your full card number.
- Usage counts: how many times you have used limited features such as AI tools, so we can apply plan limits.
Location
If you allow it, the weather widget uses your device's location. It goes from your browser straight to Open-Meteo (for the forecast) and BigDataCloud (for your town's name). We don't store your location on our servers; your browser keeps the last result so the widget loads quickly.
Voice and AI features
Voice capture uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, which may send audio to your browser's provider (for example Google in Chrome) to turn it into text. When you use an AI feature, such as tidying a voice note, proofreading, planning a trip or reading a receipt, the text or image for that request is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic or Google Gemini) to produce the result. We only send what that request needs, and we don't send your name or email with it.
The new tab extension
The extension shows your Scopicle Home screen in new tabs and sets your homepage to Scopicle. It:
- runs only on scopicle.com and does not read or track the other sites you visit;
- uses your Scopicle sign-in so your Home screen appears;
- asks for location only for the weather widget, as described above;
- blocks only the sites you add to your Focus mode list, and only while a Focus session is running. That list stays in your account and your browser.
Other services we use
- Pexels: food photos for recipes. Only the dish name is sent.
- Travelpayouts: flight and place search in trips. Only your search, such as cities and dates, is sent. Our public homepage also loads a Travelpayouts script; it does not run inside the app.
- Google: the search box on your Home screen sends what you type to Google Search, and website icons in your shortcuts are loaded from Google.
- Email: when you send a file transfer, an email provider delivers it to the recipients you enter.
Cookies and local storage
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores small preferences such as theme, sidebar state and weather. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use your data
Only to run Scopicle for you: to sign you in, store and sync your work, provide the features you ask for, handle billing and send emails you request. We don't sell it, share it for advertising, or use it for anything unrelated to Scopicle.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is open. Items you delete go to Trash first and can then be removed permanently. To delete your account and everything in it, email us at privacy@scopicle.com from your account's email address. You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it.
Security
Scopicle is served only over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and your work is visible only to your account unless you share it.
Children
Scopicle isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
